The Root of Medicine

Wu 巫 (Chinese Shamanic) Healing Principles

When I was a child in China, I was curious about the way that the local Wu 巫 (Chinese shaman) gave treatments to patients. How could an acupuncture needle release the pain when the Wu put it in a suffering patient’s body? How could his chanting help patients recover from their sickness? Though I grew to understand more knowledge about Chinese medicine as I grew up, I never got the answers to my questions during my childhood. My early questions grew into more questions! What are meridians? What is an acupuncture point?  Where did this knowledge come from? How do we know to practice in these ways?

Through years and years of Qigong practice, I finally got all the answers to my questions. I came to understand that ancient Wu 巫 (Chinese Shamanism) is the root of all traditional Chinese culture, which of course includes classical Chinese Medicine.

In this 28 minute video (also now on YouTube), I share some of my thoughts about the original source of Chinese medicine, our ancient concept of medicine, and the principle of Qi/energy healing.

I hope you will enjoy it!
