山上有火,旅,君子以明慎用刑而不留獄

There is the fire on a mountain, which is the image of hexagram Lu. Learn from this and be clear and careful when applying punishments - don’t hold prisoners.

As usual, the first four words in this DaXiang sentence describes the pattern found within nature that best represents the hexagram. The first word 山 (Shan), which means mountain, is the symbol of the bottom trigram, ☶ Gen 艮. Gen carries the meanings of stable, faith, humble, young man, support, spirituality, and creativity.
