As with most hexagrams, the first four Chinese characters of the DaXiang sentence, Zé zhōng yǒu léi 澤中有雷, describes the images related to the structure of the hexagram, in this case hexagram Suí ䷐.
The first Chinese character is 澤 (Zé) , which means marsh, swamp, nourish, grace, brilliance, damp, moist, or fertile. It is the symbolic image of the top trigram, ☱ Duì 兌, which stands for open, exchange, joy, west, evening, change, shaman, moon, and more. The second word, Zhōng 中, means inside, centered, within, or middle. It emphasizes that some things are happening within the top trigram. The third word, Yǒu 有 means exist, have/has, or there be. The fourth word, Léi 雷 (thunder) is the symbolic name of bottom trigram Zhèn 震 ☳. In Yijing symbolism, Zhèn or Léi not only means thunder, but also means unstable, shaking, vibration, vibrate, sound, movement, east, morning, or sun.
