FengXingShuiShang Huan XianWangYiXiangYuDi LiMiao

風行水上,渙,先王以享于帝,立廟

Wind is blowing over the water, which is the natural image of hexagram Huan. Learn from this - the old kings offered sacrifices to the Heavens and built temples.

 — DaXiang 大象

The first word, Feng, which means wind, is the symbolic meaning of the top trigram ☴ Xun 巽. The second word, Xing, means move, act, action, executive, phase, and element. This Xing is the same Chinese character as the one used in the phrase WuXing 五行, the Five Elements. In this sentence, Xing means the action of the wind blowing, and also represents the alchemical action of nature. The third word, Shui, means water, and is the symbolic image of the bottom trigram ☵ Kan 坎. The fourth word, Shang, means above, up, over, or high.

Together, these four words show that hexagram Huan holds two main powers of nature – wind and water. As I write, I am reminded of this image of hexagram Huan that I captured from Baltic Sea, and want to share it with you now:
